Dawn Pascale, owner and creative force of Om Sweet Home
It all started in Brooklyn, NY, where Dawn was born. Her 5 year old self was enthralled with cooking and baking; it was this passion early on that lead to a life-long dream.
After 20+ years as an HR Professional, Dawn decided to pursue her passion full-time. And in February 2013, she signed up for the Natural Gourmet Institute’s Vegan Baking Bootcamp. She loved the challenge of making products that not only taste good but are good for you.
After recognizing a growing need in her community for high-quality baked goods made with clean, natural ingredients, Dawn launched Om Sweet Home in May 2013.
“BKLYN BUTTAH” WAS BORN
Om Sweet Home specializes in plant-based and gluten-free pastries, desserts and proprietary non-dairy butter alternative. Our products are always soy-free, palm oil-free, non-GMO and celiac-safe in addition to being 100% vegan and gluten-free.
Established in 2013 as a wholesale brand, our products quickly caught the attention of other like-minded local businesses who cared about the quality of products they offered their customers. As the business grew, we constantly challenged ourselves and pushed the creative boundaries. This lead to the creation our very own non-dairy butter alternative. The first-to-market nut-free, soy-free AND palm oil-free butter alternative elevated our products and was sought after by other vegan bakeries and retail customers. As a nod to our Brooklyn childhood, the butter’s nickname “Bklyn Buttah” quickly spread and is still referred to today.
With this growth we were able to open our own dedicated, celiac-safe kitchen and retail cafe in January 2017. Like many other local businesses, the challenges and hardships over 2020 to present took a toll on our retail business. Therefore in July 2021, we have decided to go back to our wholesale roots.
